John Liggins

John has been involved in music for all of his life, from being taken as a small child to hear his mother sing in musicals, to being a chorister and later singing in many cathedrals and concert halls throughout Europe.

John’s interest in orchestras began with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields where he sang under Sir Neville Mariner, and using his professional skills as a Chartered Surveyor, assisted the Academy in relocating their offices.  John has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Orchestra of the Swan for many years, during some of which he has served as Chairman.

Other interests include a wide range of sports, whilst also continuing his career as a Chartered Surveyor.  His work in the community has led to him being involved in a number of other charities, including the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, whilst also being a Trustee of the Stratford upon Avon Music Festival and Chairman of the Oxbridge Undergraduate and Graduate professional choir, Luceat.

Whilst not working or assisting these organisations, John is a keen cricket umpire and an all-round sports fan.
