What is the connection between Mozart and Cuba? Cuba is politically, geographically, religiously, ethnically and culturally extraordinary so it is no surprise that its music reflects all of this. A heady brew of influences from West Africa and Europe - most notably Spain - have created a musical cauldron of unusual and compelling flavours, fusing elements of Jazz, Mambo, Conga, Classical, Flamenco, Abakuá, Hip-Hop and Salsa. This concert is a journey into that astoundingly diverse melting pot of sounds with frequent unexpected diversions into the repertoire of Mozart.
In case you were wondering, there is no connection between Mozart and Cuba.
