The Swan receives much-needed funding from ABF The Soldier’s Charity for dementia activity

We are delighted to be awarded an £10,000 grant from ABF The Soldier’s Charity to help fund our Café Muse project for Armed Forces veterans affected by mental health challenges.

The grant will help fund our Café Muse project at The Courtyard, Hereford for Armed Forces veterans experiencing complex mental health and wellbeing issues such as dementia, social isolation and PTSD.

he cafes are run by musicians trained by music therapists ‘Mindsong’, by Combat Stress and by a registered Cognitive Stimulation Therapy trainer, enabling veterans and their families to perform alongside professional musicians, improve their personal self-esteem and build new friendships.

“We are extremely grateful to ABF The Soldier’s Charity for this generous award. This funding will allow The Swan to continue this vital project supporting the Armed Forces Community in Hereford.” Debbie Jagla, Managing Director, Orchestra of the Swan

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:
“Our charity funds charities supporting military veterans and families in various ways, including through participation in music and the arts. We are pleased to make this donation to The Swan’s valuable work in Hereford where there is a sizeable Army veteran community.”

Café Muse at The Courtyard, Hereford starts up on Wednesday 24 May 2023.
