Trained Players

Since 2014 Orchestra of the Swan has delivered a programme of over 600 live performance workshops to people living with dementia, their families, staff and carers.

That’s within 40 care homes and 7 dementia cafés in Birmingham, Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Nuneaton & Bedworth, in partnership with music therapy charity Mindsong.

25 Swan players have been trained by Mindsong to deliver this activity, alongside receiving specialist mentoring and support.

Dementia friendly

“Music has such a powerful role in supporting people at whatever stage of their dementia journey. It is such an amazing experience to see people come alive with the music; join in, tap their feet, sing along and really get involved with the sessions. We are so pleased to be able to bring our professional musicians to these homes & cafés and know that our players are gaining a great deal from the experience too.”
