An annual series of workshops takes place at Priestley Smith Specialist School in Perry Bar for visually impaired (VI) primary and secondary pupils, which aims to address the lack of musical opportunities for the VI and the lack of appropriately trained teachers in this sector.

Workshops connect thematically with our main concert programmes, commencing with a performance by 4 Swan players and an animateur, followed by a 10-week series of 5 workshops per day to the entire school cohort, reaching up to 83 pupils per day. The project culminates in a performance to family/carers of vocal and instrumental compositions written and rehearsed by the pupils. Students choose to either sing, use body percussion or play an instrument to bring their compositions to life.
